I have always had a passion for people and fishing. My first memory of fishing was sitting on my Old Man’s shoulders in a diaper throwing a spinner. That soon grew into a full-fledged addiction to Fly Fishing and the pursuit of large trout in small streams.

On August 1st 2014, my world came crashing down when my wife’s Dr. called me and said, “Chauncey, I’m very sorry… your wife has breast cancer”. This led us into a whirlwind of countless doctor appointments, surgeries, treatments, and LOTS of traveling. Living in Pinedale it’s not a short hop anywhere! After sitting down and calculating the cost of meals, hotels, gas etc., it was astonishing how quickly these unforeseen expenses add up. After 21 months of treatments and by the grace of God, my wife is cancer free. Just as our long journey of treatments was ending, we faced a heart wrenching loss. On March 10, 2016 I lost my best friend and business partner, Charles Stough, to prostate cancer. My wife and I have lost many family members and friends to cancer and going through our own battle and losing Charles made it that much clearer just how far-reaching and indiscriminate cancer is.

I had the idea for this tournament for a long time but not the means, help, or urgency to make it a reality, but now I felt it was time to try. I knew of the loyal and generous support our county gives to Kickin’ Cancer and I wanted to find a way to bring them more financial support from donors outside Sublette County. I approached the Board of Kickin’ Cancer to see if they would be open to the FFF tournament and was so happy when they accepted! From there I set out to secure private waters around the county for the contestants to fish and again I was blown-away by people’s generosity and support of this new event. Then teams from all over the country (Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Colorado etc.) began signing up. Our first year out of the gate we raised just under $90,000 and yes, it was fun! All the money we raised went directly to the families in our community and our goals to expand FFF are becoming reality. We have a great Board of willing and helpful hands, the committed support of our amazing sponsors, and the participation of compassionate anglers from all walks of life. I couldn’t be more thankful.

Thanks for helping in the FIGHT!
